Austin Bassist Seeks Solid, Dynamic Band

Abilities & Experience:

Over 15 years bass playing and can also play drums, rhythm guitar, very basic keys,
and have vocal ability. I am also in the process of learning the mandolin.

Live on KLBJ Radio w/ Dudley & Bob

My playing style can best be summed up as follows: I play for the song, not for myself.
Whether it calls for me to engage in slap-pop, playing chord patterns, or strumming the
open E string for five minutes, I do what works for the tune. My technique is not 100% perfect because
I have always strived to bring out the feeling in a song as opposed to stressing out over some slight fret buzz
because I missed the 7th note in the arpeggio (example only!). I have always worked on finding my own
sound and style. Emotion and soul always have priority over showing someone how many notes
I can squeeze in to a single measure.

To sum up, I'm not the best bass player in the world (I fall somewhere in between Nikki Sixx and Geddy Lee) and have never tried to be;
what I have strived to be is the best BAND member in the world.

I am a long-time songwriter and have my own publishing company (BMI member) I have an
extensive catalog of songs that I have either wrote or co-wrote and would like to join a
group willing to give them a try, although that's not a requirement.

Here's a quick breakdown of my band history:

I have also played "fill-in" spots for other bands on a few occasions and started my musical career
playing drums for a Houston punk band in my teens.

As you can tell, I am also proficient in HTML and can help design, build, and maintain a band's website
if necessary. I also have limited Java skills. Click on this link and check out some of the web-work I've done.

I'm very energetic on stage and like to rap with the crowd and establish a bond. I don't just stand there
like a statue and play my notes. John Entwistle was an amazing bassist but it's a good thing the other three
guys were so energetic and crazy. I'm also a good-lookin' guy so the girls can have some eye candy
as well as ear candy. ;)

For my bands, I have usually been the chief organizer and promoter, creating and distributing flyers,
writing press releases, getting the attention of local media (papers & radio) to increase exposure,
setting up on-air interviews, getting airplay, creating websites and setting up mp3 pages, establishing
the set lists, booking hotels, booking gigs, and many other things. I believe that being in a band
involves a hell of a lot more than just plugging in and playing and I'll do whatever is asked or needed.
