Austin Bassist Seeks Solid, Dynamic Band

Philosophy:
I need a group of people that are serious about music but don't take themselves too seriously.
I work hard but I like to have a good time even more! I can't deal with overblown egos and people who
think they're so important just because they're "Austin musicians".
Why bother with music if you're not enjoying it and having fun with it?

I like to practice about twice per week for about 3-4 hours at a time but I can go longer
if there things that need to be done. Sleep can come later.
I am all about touring and getting out there but I like to restrict it to the weekends
so I can pay my bills, afford better gear, strings, fronting money for merchandise or
recording, etc. (Day jobs are good for something!) But, if the band is currently making good
money (i.e. enough to where I can quit my job and still make my bills), I can tour like a
real band without any problems.

I'm a cowboy. On a steel horse I ride

I can participate in long jams (though more often than not, they bore me) but
for the most part, I am a song-oriented player. I'm not the type of player who just wants
to show off my skills; I am "in the pocket". The bass is the anchor to any band and I will
do whatever it takes to fit the song. I do need the freedom to be myself and add my own
style to a song and I am always open to suggestion and CONSTRUCTIVE criticism.

The only things more important to me than music are friends and family. I sometimes put
my musical work ahead of them but as a general rule, they come first. This does not mean
that I never give 100%, I just want it to be known up front that there may be times
(few and far between) where I may have to sacrifice some time for music to keep my marriage
afloat and to keep the friends that I have. Music is my passion & I see music as my future
career but no job is worth losing the people you love & care about.
